Participates in over 150,000 companies across 180 countries, achieving top 4% ranking and the 'Gold' medal
Scores high across all categories including Environment, Labor & Human Rights, Ethics, and Sustainable Procurement, proving ESG execution capabilities
Strengthens sustainable management capabilities to meet key ESG evaluation criteria for global pharmaceutical companies and investors
Alteogen announced on the 21st that it has been awarded a 'Gold' medal by EcoVadis, a global sustainability rating agency, placing in the top 4% of participating companies in its 2026 ESG assessment. This achievement comes just a year after the company secured a Bronze medal in its debut evaluation last year.

In this evaluation, Alteogen scored between 83 and 85 points across all four key categories: Environment, Labor & Human Rights, Ethics, and Sustainable Procurement. EcoVadis awards medals based on global percentiles: Platinum (top 1%), Gold (top 5%), Silver (top 15%), and Bronze (top 35%).
The company also received an 'Advanced' rating in the Carbon Rating, which separately evaluates climate change response capabilities. Alteogen explained that this recognition reflects its robust greenhouse gas management systems, decarbonization policies, reduction initiatives, and external reporting capabilities.
Headquartered in France, EcoVadis is a supply chain sustainability rating agency involving more than 150,000 companies across approximately 180 countries. It verifies corporate ESG policies, activities, and performances based on international standards. Its evaluation results are widely utilized by global pharmaceutical companies to audit supply chains when selecting or retaining partners, as well as by investors for ESG screening.
Alteogen declared this year as the "inaugural year of ESG management," overhauling its related organizations and governance structures. The company established an ESG committee within the board of directors and formed a dedicated, company-wide ESG organization staffed by specialists.
In the area of greenhouse gas management, the company established a third-party verified greenhouse gas inventory, achieved the CDP Management Level, and received approval for short-term greenhouse gas reduction targets from the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi). According to the company, this SBTi short-term target approval is a first for a KOSDAQ-listed biotechnology firm.
Alteogen also pursued initiatives aligned with the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), the UN Global Compact (UNGC), and K-RE100, while driving the transition to renewable energy. The company further solidified its sustainable management framework by obtaining ISO 14001 (environmental management) and ISO 45001 (occupational health and safety) international certifications, and by publishing its inaugural sustainability report.
Jeon Tae-yeon, CEO of Alteogen, noted that when narrowed down to the chemical R&D sector to which the company belongs, Alteogen ranks in the top 2% among all companies globally evaluated by EcoVadis over the past 12 months.
"Winning the EcoVadis Gold medal goes beyond a simple evaluation score; it signifies securing sustainable management capabilities trusted by global pharmaceutical partners and investors," CEO Jeon said. "Without resting on this achievement, we will continue to refine our management systems across all areas of environment, labor and human rights, ethics, and sustainable procurement."
